Audition Information

  • This audition packet contains the songs and sides (readings) that will be used at auditions. We may pull out additional songs/sides if we need to. It is helpful if you are prepared ahead of time and you are familiar with the songs, but it is not required to be memorized. In fact, keep the score and sides in your hand, just in case you have a brain blip. Songs can be found on YouTube. For individual parts, you will be asked to sing alone with the track. If you would like to be in the chorus, you will need to complete a dance audition. If you do not care about being in the core ensemble, turn in an audition form.

  • Now is a great time to start! We love seeing new people at auditions. We were all “new” once and are cheering you on. We offer roles to those who fit the part the best: freshmen and seniors have equal opportunity for parts.

  • We do not require the songs or scenes to be memorized. That said, the more familiar you are with the material, the more effective your audition will be.

  • Our audition day is Wednesday, September 4th. If you have to leave early, let us know so we can put you first. If you are coming late, let us know so we don’t skip over you. If you cannot make it at all, please talk to Mr. Cooper or Mrs. Kozinski.

  • You do not have to audition. Just turn in a crew form.

    1.  Be confident – even if you have never done this before, walk into the audition as if you own the place. But, remember, arrogance is not confidence.
    2.  Be kind to each other; you never know what someone is going through or if you will be working together. This is a great life lesson as well.
    3. Make bold choices – you need to show us your stuff. These are bigger than life characters, don’t just stand and sing.
    4. Be as familiar with the musical and the characters as possible. YouTube is a great resource to use (cough, cough…). The original cast album is widely available.

  • Here’s a secret… Everyone will be nervous. Even if they say they aren’t. You will be nervous. That is a good thing! The key is to channel your nerves into good positive energy. Think of your heart racing as gearing up for something exciting. It is important to remember that the directors want to see you succeed. We are cheering you on. Just show up and have fun! That’s what all of this is about.
