Troy Buchanan High School Welcomes Dr. Keith Moyer as Incoming Principal Beginning in 2026-2027 School Year

Moyer Named as Incoming Troy Buchanan High School Principal


The Lincoln County R-III Board of Education and Superintendent Frederickson are pleased to announce the approval of Dr. Keith Moyer as the incoming Principal of Troy Buchanan High School. Dr. Moyer will transition to this role beginning July 1, 2026. Board of Education President Ron Mills stated, “We look forward to welcoming Dr. Moyer to LCR3. His focus on creating a school environment where students feel valued, safe, and empowered to succeed will serve our community well.” 


With more than 17 years of experience in public education and a decade serving in high-school leadership roles, Dr. Moyer brings a strong background in instructional leadership, systems implementation, school safety, and student support. He currently serves as an Assistant Principal and A+ Coordinator at Fort Zumwalt North High School, where he leads instructional initiatives, oversees testing coordination, supports the implementation of multi-tiered systems of support, and guides professional development. Under his leadership, departments have seen measurable academic growth, including a 30-point increase in Algebra I performance during the 2024–2025 school year. He has also led crisis planning efforts, revised building safety protocols, and worked closely with staff to strengthen systems that support both student achievement and belonging. 


Prior to administration, Dr. Moyer served as the director of bands in the Fort Zumwalt, Brentwood, and Riverview Garden School Districts, where he worked to significantly expand student participation in music programs while building strong partnerships with families and community stakeholders. While in the classroom setting, he was named the 2022 Student’s Choice Teacher of the Year at Fort Zumwalt West, the 2015 Teacher of the Year at Fort Zumwalt West, and the 2010 Teacher of the Year at Riverview Gardens. 


In addition to his work in education, Dr. Moyer serves as Commander in the 135th Army Band United States Army National Guard, where he provides strategic leadership and mission oversight at the state and national levels.


Dr. Moyer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance from Lindenwood University, a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from Webster University, an Education Specialist in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University, and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from William Woods University. 

      

When asked about his move to TBHS, Dr. Moyer shared, “I believe strong schools are built on positive culture, shared leadership, and systems that support both students and staff. I am excited about the opportunity to serve the Lincoln County R-III School District and to partner with students, staff, families, and community to guide Troy Buchanan High School into its next chapter of success."
